- Why did you create this work?
Lost in the Middle follows the character of Kai and was launched in 2020 to help children and their families process grief. Developed with insights from a leading expert in the field of bereavement, the book delivers a powerful message around collective healing, built chapter by chapter as characters navigate individual challenges but ultimately come together as a community to grow. - How were your illustrations used?
As well as an animated film, the graphic novel was made into a book, and featured in a workshop led by New York Life at Comic Con 2023. - What materials and techniques did you use?

Based in Barcelona, Genie Espinosa has an affinity with all the characters in her work – bold, strong and unapologetically fearless. She approaches every project with her contagious energy. Genie has a background in comics, graphic design and marketing, and made the step into full time illustration in 2013. She has since worked with clients including Nike, It’s Nice That, Refinery 29 and Mother. - Where are you currently based?
