Why did you make this work:
Illustrations were created for an outreach project about science and gender. It is focused on the figure of Lise Meitner, co-discoverer of nuclear fission and illustrations are highlighting the different stages of her biography. She is depicted both while making her research as well as trying to escape from the political situation in Germany having to leave her whole research work behind.

How was the illustration used:
Illustrations are used on the website, collateral, project exhibition and future theatre play.

How did you make this work:
This project was based on the real archive images of Lise Meitner and her research, which were translated into illustrations combining both scientific imagery and the emotions dominating these particular life events of the scientist. The work was made digitally.

Biography:
Elena Resko is a Berlin-based illustrator who works with editorial, product, and advertisement and enjoys a variety of subjects. Always bright, colorful and occasionally blooming, her work brings positivity even while exploring complex themes. If she is not at her desk, she is probably drinking coffee somewhere.
