Projecting a sense of calm and community for patients and staff in Oncology

Site Specific

Un-commissioned | New Talent

How were your illustrations used? :
College or university project, Exhibition or installation

How did you make this work:
Created for permanent exhibition in a new Oncology Unit, to bring a sense of community and calm to the patients and staff who have to spend long periods of time there. I used pastels and coloured pencils to create a soft, calming atmosphere, focusing on themes associated with recovery that can also be found in the surrounding Cornish woodland, such as pathways, obstacles, and community.

Charlotte is currently studying BA Illustration in her final year at Falmouth University. Inspired by her work with mental health charities and organisations, her work focuses on communicating empathy and creating narratives based on subjects that are often difficult to communicate. She enjoys experimenting with a variety of media and mark making to help communicate sensitive subjects.
