Why did you make this work:
This illustration depicts a moment in the life of Sharon and Jeff, characters in a short story in which the doubts of modern romances are examined. Sharon meets Jeff, her current boyfriend Jeff at a party. The two become quick lovers and though she enjoys her time with him, she is filled with doubts when her ex-boyfriend of five years begins texting her again.

How was the illustration used:
In print accompanying a short story in The Kit Compact

How did you make this work:
Elements from the short story are worked into the piece. Sharon wears a blouse with sailboats that Jeff bought her. The photos represent the adventures the couple have gone on. Other belongings were invented to build on their characters. The composition and colours were designed to create a dichotomy between the doubtful reality of the couple (reflection) and their "sunny" memories.
