How did you make this work:
In creating Snap! I wanted to convey the curiosity of a child exploring the world. I hoped to capture a child’s bravery and hope despite feeling scared sometimes. The illustrations were created using collage & monoprinting textures to give a handcrafted quality but I kept the shapes simple for children to follow the story. The colour palette used a luminous green to highlight the joyful adventure.

Anna Walker is an award-winning illustrator and author of many picture books for children published around the world. Her books include Florette, which was a New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Book. Anna creates illustrations with watercolour, pencil, and collage. Her stories are inspired by the quiet and sometimes joyful details of life. She lives and works in Melbourne.
