| New TalentWhy did you make this work:
I was asked by Pink Giraffe Publishing House to illustrate this book. It is about a little girl who spends her time between Moscow and her grandparents’ county house in Russia but then moves to New York with her parents and has to adapt to her new everyday reality. This project was especially interesting to work on because I could personally relate to a lot of the everyday details in the story.
How was the illustration used:
This is a selection of four full-page interior book illustrations and the front book cover. It is a chapter book for children around 6 to 10 years old.
How did you make this work:
I made the illustrations using a stencil hand-printing technique. I hand-cut paper stencils for each shape, then hand-printed multiple layers in black ink to get the textures, then edited and coloured the scans digitally. The brief allowed me to use only black plus one pantone colour for the interior illustrations. The cover was made in the same technique but with more colours added digitally. Commissioner Name :

I am just starting out as an illustrator after completing my BA Illustration degree in 2021. I also have a degree in Linguistics. This is my first published work in children’s book illustration, but I plan to keep working in this field in the future. I work in both traditional and digial media and I am interested in visual storytelling in all its various formats, from book covers to animation.
