Why did you make this work:
Illustration for a NYT review about audio-cookbooks by Jennifer Reese. Especially the author’s description of ›Cook, Eat, Repeat‹ by Nigella Lawson is so juicy and pictorially rich, that you really get a taste of that peculiar format. For the illustration i aimed to visually translate the fresh vivid mood as well as the surprising element.

How was the illustration used:
The editorial illustration was used at the New York Times Book Review section for a column about audio cookbooks.

How did you make this work:
My process always includes many sketches to collect as many different ideas as possible through drawing. I combine, rearrange, scale and transform my drawings again and again – and through the process of making, ideas emerge. Even for an editorial illustration I create 8 to 10 sketches, before I send a selection to the art director. Only at the very end the color comes in.
