Why did you make this work:
The World Transition to Clean Energy is explained in these three 22 page picture books commissioned by The Commonwealth and aimed at children 7 to 12 years of age in 52 diverse countries. After a competitive bid I proposed three titles to show concepts of sustainable and inclusive energy and how children can play a part in the change. The books were launched at a COP 26 live event.

How was the illustration used:
Copies distributed to children in all the countries of the Commonwealth. Publisher: The Commonwealth. Also available to download.

How did you make this work:
I integrate my illustrations with my own writing, and I achieve this by directing the design and layout of my books, My experiences in Uganda, Denmark and the Caribbean informed this project. The client wanted me to draw on my current practice as a non-fiction 'reportage' picture book artist: https://www.allandrummond.com/books.I used Ink and stencils.

Biography:
I studied illustration at the Royal College of Art, and Graphic Design at the London College of Printing. Before studying art I was a reporter and sub-editor on the East Anglian Daily Times where I developed my love of writing - and a fearlessness about deadlines! I initiate my own 'reportage' non-fiction picture books about Energy, which I am lucky to have published by Macmillan in New York.
