ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
This series was created for a regular column in Waitrose Weekend Magazine, illustrating articles by financial journalist and author, Alvin Hall. I love Alvin’s style of writing, which is intimate and full of pathos. Picking out one of the strands in each article, I use this as a starting point to fire my imagination.
How was the illustration used: The drawings were used alongside Alvin Hall’s columns in Waitrose Weekend Magazine.
How did you make this work: I try to find as much reference as possible from Alvin's descriptions to create a sense of place. I then work in pencil on paper at the sketch stage and scan into Photoshop, finding a palette that best gets across the mood of each piece of writing.
