I was commissioned to work on cover illustration and inside illustration series for a novel. The novel is written by 6 different authors, who wrote after the famous modern Korean short novel, written by Yi Sang in 1936. This novel depicts self consuming and self disintegrating intellectuals of the colonial period of Korea.
How was the illustration used: These illustrations were used as inside illustration for 6 different short fictions.
How did you make this work: My approach to this brief was to show the atmosphere of modern Korea and to show the connection between each novels. I selected important objects from each novel and tried to express how they relate to the main character or place. I also put thin lines in each illustrations to show that each novels are connected to each other. I used a lot of texture brush in photoshop to create vintage textures.
