Why did you choose to enter this work?
I decided to enter this work into the competition because it best reflects my approach and sensitivity as an artist. I was particularly satisfied with both the process and the result of this project.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Surreal world I created, delving into space, nature, and life to explore planets and strange creatures. Bringing these fantastical elements to life through illustrations was truly enjoyable!
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It is truly an honor and an exciting opportunity. It gives me the chance to showcase my work on a global platform and connect with other talented artists from around the world.
Where do you usually work?
I usually work from my cozy home studio in Istanbul, where I use a MacBook Pro with Adobe software and a Wacom Pro drawing tablet to bring my digital illustrations to life.
How long did it take to complete your project?
Cosmic Planta project was quite a lengthy process, and since I collaborated with a musician, it might have taken over a year. Of course, there were times when I didn't work continuously.
What is your dream commission?
Collaborating with animation and music industry companies like Adult Swim, Warp Records, Brainfeeder, Cartoon Network, and visionary artists.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Undoubtedly the surreal and imaginative worlds. I love depicting planets, their unique nature, and the strange creatures that inhabit them. Crafting otherworldly environments sparks my creativity.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Embrace your uniqueness, let your experiences and passions shape your work, and don't hesitate to experiment. Through exploration, you'll find your distinct artistic voice.
What are your plans for the future?
I'll explore new mediums like 3D & traditional methods & want to create visual media experiences for live performances & aim to create animated short films. Excited to see where my journey leads!
