My name is Jacqueline and I am a British illustrator and designer with Norwegian heritage; hence ‘illustrere’ which is the Norwegian translation for ‘illustrate’.
My style is influenced by posters of the early 20th century ‘Belle Époque’ period and traditional travel poster art. I also love Scandinavian folk art and the natural world, trees, flowers, fauna and small creatures. Every piece is drawn freehand either from imagination, my research or photographs. I then decide if I should turn the analogue into digital or leave it as a hand drawn piece of work. I love the artisanal feel of traditional media and this is a popular method, however, digitally produced work has a vast array of possibilities in terms of colour, amendment and customisation.
