Shona is an illustrator & writer, who mostly works on children’s books. Originally from Scotland, she grew up in Aberdeenshire, then studied Visual Communication at Edinburgh College of Art, (specialising in stop-motion animation) and now lives and works by the sea in Co. Waterford, Ireland.
Her debut picture book
The Pooka Party (The O’Brien Press 2018) has been selected for the IBBY Honours List 2019, and nominated for an Irish Book Award 2018, CBI Award 2019 and LAI Award 2019.
Other books include
‘The Moon Spun Round’ by W. B. Yeats, edited by Noreen Doody, (The O’Brien Press 2016). Her latest illustrated publication is
‘An Féileacán agus an Rí’ written by Máire Zepf (Futa Fata, Dec 2019), and is currently working on another title for Futa Fata, as well as her own picture book.
Shona also exhibits her artwork, notably her solo exhibition Juniper throughout Ireland, and illustrations from The Moon Spun Round and The Pooka Party at the
Bratislava Illustration Bienniel 2017 and 2019.
