Molly is a mural artist/illustrator who works with independent businesses in Sheffield to help tell the story and ethos of the company through a hand painted, original design. This began after illustrating articles for local magazines and selling prints at local markets. The intention is to establish herself in Sheffield and then branch out and work with businesses further afield. Her most memorable project that formed her signature style was Sheffield Miners’ Strike; A project celebrating the community of Sheffield as they fought together to save the mines. The illustrations show the beginning of the strike from when Heath was in power in 1972 through to Thatcher when she brought the strike to an end in 1984.
People have been a key focus in Molly’s designs which has led her to work with challenging subject matter in the world news and in fashion; working with intricate details and patterns. The designs are drawn with fine liners as it allows her to work with tiny details and create clean lines to build detailed scenes.
Giving back to the community is important to Molly but also to build new relationships. She gives a few hours of her time every Wednesday to volunteer at ACCT; a youth group for teenagers with Autism and Aspergers. They host social events to teach new skills and develop confidence. It’s a rewarding experience.
