Brighton based artist and published author Mia Underwood creates multimedia drawings, paintings and soft sculptures inspired by the natural world, woodland creatures, Nordic crafts and mysterious folk tales.
Since completing a BA degree in Graphic and Media Design at London College of Printing, Mia has been continuously experimenting with new techniques; from painting on wood with gold leaf, digital illustration, working with spray paints and even making three dimensional needle felted animals.
Mia’s works are often filled with fantastical scenes that capture the viewer’s imagination, creating worlds where wild flowers grow from the kitchen floorboards and serene faces watch out from green hills, as birds carry three-story town houses upon their heads.
Mia has been curating an art exhibition called Into the Woods in Brighton since 2009, which was short-listed Best Open House by AOH.
Mia is a published author, her two books: Nordic Crafts and My Felted Friends, both published by CICO Books Ltd. Available to buy on Amazon, Waterstones and many other book shops around the world.
