I am Luke. Visual art has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember and is a fundamental part of who I am.I graduated from the Lincoln School of Art in 2003 with a BA hons in Illustration and have been working professionally as an illustrator ever since. I have worked for clients in animation, publishing, advertising, editorial and branding. Simultaneously I pursue a busy career in graphic design, a creative discipline which greatly informs my illustration work and vice versa. I also undertake, exhibit and sell original drawings and Giclee prints as wall art.My images originate on the sketchpad and are usually executed digitally, though I actually employ a wide range of traditional and experimental techniques to manufacture unique textures. I use photography and scanning to capture the extreme details of the world around me which, when seen in unexpected contexts, can bring a vivid, surreal, sometimes grotesque quality to my work. As a side effect I spend an inordinate amount of time crawling about in flowerbeds and playing with my food.
