Hello! Iím Katie, an illustrator from North East England.
I love to travel and I take a sketchbook everywhere I go. Loose & messy, rich textured and painterly artwork with muddy vintage colours in a bold, cheerful style is what I am into.
I have a thing for drawing buildings, so I set up Newcastle’s urban sketching group. (It’s still going even though I’m not there any more. Check it out if you like drawing buildings too!) For the Angel of the North’s 15th anniversary Chris Folwell and I made an animation, and more recently I illustrated a little book about an eco-friendly future for Newcastle University.
I do talks and workshops for children. In the summer holidays of 2016 I set up Making & Moving – kids arts and dance workshops – and for the past 2 years i’ve delivered Creative Careers day talks at the BALTIC art gallery in Gateshead. I have delivered little animation workshops for Gateshead council in the past. I’m DBS checked and I do love working with children.
Bike rides, getting away from technology, eco-friendly living and small children make me happy. And new commissions. I’d love to hear from you if you have an idea.
Edinburgh College of Art is my current home where i’m studying a masters in illustration. I should be finished by autumn 2017.
