If your looking for an excellent storyboard and concept artist with a huge amount of experience and a proven track record of success, capable of meeting tight deadlines while still producing slick dynamic boards for advertising, film and television then your in luck, you found a professional who is easy to work with and happy to talk to you.
This is what I do:
• Storyboards for advertising, film and television.
• Concept visuals for Event Management companies.
• Comics and illustration for children’s storybooks and school books.
• Traditional illustration for print and magazines.
I have worked for a huge range of advertising agencies like Ogilvy, Publicis Group, Rothco, TBWA and BBDO Dublin on successful campaigns producing highly finished colour storyboards and concept visuals for client presentation on accounts such as Guinness, Ford, Budweiser, 7up, Vodafone, Jameson, Honda, Virgin media, Heineken and many more.
Production companies require a looser and quicker version of storyboards packaged in multi-page pdf documents with details like scene numbers, dialog, camera setups and descriptions of the action for distribution to cast and crew. These are very useful when shooting anything from a movie to a beer ad when more complex camera moves and VFX are involved. Typically they are used for action sequences in film and television where the director needs everyone involved to have a very clear picture of what’s going to happen, storyboards will do that.
I’ve worked on many television series like ‘Viking’, ‘Altered Carbon’, ‘Tyrant’, ‘Harley and the Davidsons’ and more as well as movies ‘The Professor and the Madman’ starring Sean Penn and Mel Gibson, along with film still in production: ‘Horizon Line, ‘Green Knight’, The Rhythm Section’ starring Blake Lively, ‘Vivarium’ starring Jesse Eisenberg, ‘This Nans Life’ and most recently ‘Wild Mountain thyme’ starring Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan and Christopher Walken.
Of course storyboards are not the only thing I do, I also concept visuals for event management companies, these are used to show clients the layout and placement of elements like food stalls, activity tents, logo’s etc and how they fit into a particular location. I’ve worked on campaigns to produce high quality visuals for clients like Audi, Hyperloop, Dropbox, Google and Lidl to mention but a few.
You don’t do a lot storyboards and visuals without delving into related fields like comics along the way and I have, doing a large number of comics Scouts international based on the experiences of individual scouts around the world during events like hurricane Katrina and the bombing of Hiroshima. I have also done a number of private commissions from writers who wanted to get a story illustrated to put on the web and for self promotion.
Other related fields are children’s storybooks and have recently completed a large commission called ‘One Time Before’ for printing company West Side Press based in Dublin http://onetimebefore.com/. This project was very ambitious allowing the buyer to customise the story from a huge range of options from different eras eg 60’s, 70’s 80’s, 90’s as well as changing the gender, hair length and colour. I have also done work on children’s school books and other educational material such as posters and diagrams.
How I work:
• The client contact me to check availability, get a quote or communicate a brief, either by phone or email.
• After being briefed, I do loose sketch’s to send to the client for feedback, this allows the client to make changes and tweaks at no extra charge.
• Once sketch’s and amendments are fully approved I proceed to doing the final artwork to meet the deadline.
