Born in 1989, Camilla Lier Hagen is a newly educated Norwegian illustrator and art historian, holding bachelor degrees in both fields. As a researcher Camilla is fascinated by both fact and fiction and as a result she by now knows at least a bit about a lot and always loves learning more. Favourite subjects include: history, mythology, psychology, science, symbolism and art theory. A glutton for knowledge, she is someone who is enjoys trying and learning new things and achieving new skills. That is because she enjoys making new connections, creating new ideas, angles and solutions, not to mention overcoming challenges. As an artist she works both with the depiction of reality and fantasy. Though as of late combinations of the two has inspired her to evolve stylistically towards an increasingly symbolic and expressionistic visual language. In her work she aims to create pieces that are simultaneously eye-catching and easily enough understood, yet which also contains layers of subtler messaging that invites further study. Working with the visualization of text, concepts and ideas in creative and eye-catching ways, she specializes digital-based illustration aimed towards publication and the entertainment industry. She is currently working as an independent freelance artist.
