Bénédicte Barrett was born in the Loire Valley in France. She first started her career as a primary school teacher, teaching in bilingual schools. She then moved to the UK, worked in London and decided to live on the South West coast in Devon. She studied Illustration in Plymouth College of Art and later started to work as a freelance illustrator.
She likes creating characters and scenes using a restrictive colour palette, designing posters and educational illustrations. As a visual story teller, she also enjoys making conceptual designs using metaphors to convey strong messages such as environmental concerns.
