Picture Hooks and Orange Beak have teamed up to bring you an exciting day full of tips and techniques on Saturday 21 September to demystify the world of children’s illustration and maximise your creative potential, at the Art House in Worcester.
In the morning, leading experts from the world of publishing will talk about the working life of an illustrator, explain how illustrators are commissioned, how the publishing process works and run practical workshops to develop your style. Life as an illustrator can be difficult, lonely and mind-boggling, so looking after your mental health is key. The afternoon will focus on tips to help you find the balance, introducing ideas around building up a valuable support system and further suggestions to help you to enjoy your life as an illustrator.
Tickets from £40, available here where more information is provided.
Early Bird prices are on offer until Sunday 22nd August 2019
In addition to this, on Sunday 22 September the teams who run Orange Beak and Picture Hooks are offering one-to-one sessions – an opportunity to look in depth at specific concerns illustrators may have around their creative practice. These sessions are tailored around the individual and may include areas of development such as observational drawing, editing text and image, developing a creative voice, portfolio reviews, cover design, page layout or contracts.
These are not included in the ticket price for the Saturday event. The cost is £80 for a 50 -minute session. Full details including time slots available can be found here.
If you would like to book a session please email with a preferred time, and brief introduction to yourself and what you’re hoping to get from the session.
