Now in its fourth year, HiFest (Hastings Illustration Festival) will be taking place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December 2017. It will include an array of top guests from the world of illustration and over 75 stalls selling unique illustrated goods from books, zines and prints to cards, badges and ceramics.
It will also feature the following activities:
A series of presentations and panel discussions on a range of subjects including children’s books, reportage, music and illustration and the ever-popular panel talk, Girls That Draw.
Interactive, family-friendly activities including creative drawing exercises with Lorna Scobie, Coffee Cup Characters with Scott Garrett and screenprinting with Little Mashers.
For the first time an animation fringe festival will run in parallel with HiFest, offering a series of animation-based talks, screenings and activities across the weekend. This will be taking place at The Palace and is free for everyone (no wristband needed).
Benjamin Phillips returns with his highly popular live portrait-drawing sessions (Saturday) and illustrators Fran Meneses and Nina Cosford will be hosting an interactive Drawing Date (Sunday).
Award-winning reportage illustrator Tim King will be exhibiting original pieces from his Drawn On Real Life project, after he documented every day of 2016 through drawing. Local illustrator Stewart Walton will be exhibiting drawings he has made on-stage at Glastonbury Festival over the years, offering an extraordinary viewpoint of stars performing.
