NFT’s (Non Fungible Tokens) have been increasingly in the news and offer potential new income streams to all artists, including illustrators – but many don’t know what they are. Alex Watt, Partner at Howard Kennedy LLP specialises in IP and has a growing expertise in NFT’s as this new commodity develops.

This session will explain in simple terms what a NFT is, what some of the benefits NFT may offer illustrators as well as looking at some of the negatives, such as copyright infringement and the environmental impact.

We’ll look at some questions illustrators may want to consider including what it means contractually, and what it may be possible to do with NFTs that you cannot do with traditional non-cryptographic channels.

The session will comprise a 45 minute presentation followed by the opportunity to ask Alex questions.
