How did you make this work: These images were made for Orange Beak Studio’s Instagram challenge Once Upon a Winter. I developed a very experimental printing technique that combined charcoal and washing-up liquid as a medium for making multiple monoprints with unique textures; they were scanned and collaged in Procreate to create landscapes, it was a bit like finding pictures in clouds. The characters were drawn digitally.

Biography:
Sam Jones is an illustrator from the North of England; she spent much of her childhood travelling the world in rusty cargo ships, always dreaming, always drawing, always telling stories. Her work is playful, narrative and textured and describes fantastical worlds and everyday magic. She loves vintage children’s books, deadlines and prompts. She is currently based in Manchester City Centre.
