David Dean
The Misunderstandings of Charity Brown

Book Covers

How were your illustrations used? :
Book Cover/s

How did you make this work:
Wraparound YA book jacket with flaps. The cover called for an image of Charity observing from a distance the events going on around her in her home. I used the foliage of the tree to partially obscure each of the other characters to show how Charity never sees the full picture. I wanted the cover to look like a modern take on a 1950s children's novel (it's set in the 50s) but not to be a pastiche.
