New TalentWhy did you make this work:
This work was created within my Masters degree in Illustration. The brief was to create a short children's picture book, and these three images are from this project. I wanted to create a book that discusses an emotion that children may find hard to process - being alone - but look at it from both negative and positive aspects.
How was the illustration used: This was submitted for a deadline in December 2021 within my MA - but I would love to pitch the idea to a publisher in the future.
How did you make this work: All the work was made primarily through paper/card collage, cut and glued by hand, with digital illustration added on top (using Procreate).

Biography:
I'm Rachel - I'm 31, British and live in Kent (UK) and I hope to pursue Children's Picture Book illustration as a career. During my time studying MA Illustration at UCA Farnham, I realised how much I love to tell stories using visual narrative - especially stories that have a strong emotional theme, full of colour and wonder.
