Why did you make this work:
These are illustrations for an essay written by a shaman Hong Kali who drinking coffee at a cafe working with a cell phone. To break away from the traditional shamanic appearance, which may have been prejudice, I drew a shaman's daily life these days with simple forms and vivid colors.

How was the illustration used:
These illustrations were used as the cover and the interior of the essay book 〈The Spirit is Watching Us〉 published by Wisdom House, inc.

How did you make this work:
I drew lines with Photoshop, and filled in them with vivid colors and textures. As the client requested, I used the five cardinal colors (blue, yellow, red, white, black) for each illustration, which representing traditional colors of shaman.

Biography:
Illustrator Laon Kim(LLAONKIM). She draws unfamiliar landscapes dryly and vividly. Borrowing methods of expressions of poetry she expresses a slightly twisted daily lives. She studied visual communication design at Hongik University in Seoul and worked with clients including Wisdom House, inc., ARKO, Yogiyo and Jihaksa in South Korea.
