Why did you make this work:
Reading Science Fiction is a personal illustration project that aims to reinforce, enhance and broaden the scope of science fiction works written by women through a series of portraits of female authors. Their portraits reinforce their significance in a field where men are seen as the majority.

How was the illustration used:
an online campaign via social media

How did you make this work:
These illustrations were created in Adobe Illustrator software, where I was exploring how to use the vector language mixed with textures and subtil distorted lines to create a non-vector visual language.

Biography:
Paula Cruz is a designer + illustrator. Currently based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Paula has a bachelor's degree from EBA/UFRJ and a master's degree in Graphic Design from PUC-Rio, where she studied hybrid publications and new ways of reading. While studying and working, Paula develops personal projects that unite design, text and research, such as books, posters and illustrated stories.
