Ngadi Smart
Living in a Woman's Body: The Guardian, G2 Special

Editorial

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Ngadi was commissioned to create 5 illustrations (a cover and 4 internal images) to illustrate the 8 page special 'Living in a Woman's Body', published in The Guardian's G2. Ngadi's artwork brought to life short written pieces by women about the woman's body, edited by V (formerly Eve Ensler), foregrounding themes of strength, abuse, transformation, diversity, pregnancy, and ageing.

How was the illustration used:
For use in the print edition of G2, as well as to accompany individual articles online.

How did you make this work:
Ngadi's digital illustrations were made in collaboration with the design of the feature, consciously creating them so that they engaged with the printed space and to interact with the text layout. Her imagery responded to the subjects of the written stories and the personal experiences they recounted.
