Elise Vandeplancke
Smalltalk

Editorial

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
During the lockdown, we didn't have to make small talk anymore. In the meantime, we became used to it. Now that the strict corona measures are being lifted, can we still chit chat? And what about sensitive topics? There is more to small talk than meets the eye.

How was the illustration used:
1/4 page in printed edition of DeMorgen and online

How did you make this work:
The speech bubbles represent sensitive topics by showing a bomb. The person is really making an effort to avoid setting of any bombs. In the other bubbles you can read some Dutch idioms which represent easy smalltalk.
