Book Covers

Why did you make this work:
Tarot is a book by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa, an in depth study of practices that are beyond simple card readings and more of a powerful instrument of self-knowledge. The brief included the Star card as an inspiration and a few suggestions of what could be included. The final image evolved from there, showing a combination of tarot symbols represented on different cards.

How was the illustration used:
It was used as a book cover.

How did you make this work:
This is a completely digital work, from sketches to typography. Not my usual method, but it started and evolved completely naturally on the screen. Also, this commission posed an extra challenge as this book cover needed to match the tone of already published book series by the same author, created by a different designer, which I've managed to achieve through similar colours and typography.
