Niv Tishbi
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem - Dean of Students office

Site Specific

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I was invited by The Hebrew University of Jerusalem to create murals for the foyer of the Dean of Students office building. The murals encompass the essence of the dean’s office activity in an upward movement of growth, support, and guidance towards graduation. I gave expression to the diverse body of students of the university to describe the equality of opportunity that the dean works towards.

How was the illustration used:
Four permanent wooden wall installations at the foyer, welcoming the students who seek assistance, and the team of the Office of the Dean who are responsible for the student’s welfare.

How did you make this work:
Following a discovery into the dean of students office’s activity and goals, I decided to create wooden wall installations. I began with digital illustrations which I then disassembled into smaller pieces and cut to shape in 4 types of wood - oak, walnut, poplar and black MDF. I treated the wood (sanding and varnishing) and assembled the pieces together directly onto the walls.
