Pedrina's House

Children's Publishing

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
These images are the result of my final paper in University, in which I wrote and illustrated a book about my grandmother Pedrina's house. It's a journey through the rooms and objects of the house, revisiting the memories that my grandmother and I both keep of that place. I wanted to create illustrations that spoke about her and my childhood, but also about places of comfort and affection.

How was the illustration used:
The book will be published in 2022

How did you make this work:
I traveled to my grandma's house and stayed some weeks drawing, looking at old photographies and spending time with her. Some of the textures and patterns were transformed into linocuts that later were used to compose the final images, such as the tiles, the carpet and wooden floor. Other tools used were ink, colored pencils and, to finish, photoshop.
