How to Tame a Cousin

Book Covers

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
This cover is for a children's book I have written and illustrated that has won illustration awards in Norway. It is about Jane, who is looking forward to a family-party, but she is not allowed to help to prepare the cake because she is too small. She starts looking forward to her little cousin coming, because then Jane can be the big one. But when he arrives it turns out he has become totally wild

How was the illustration used:
The illustration was used as a book cover for "How to tame a cousin". It was also used in a book trailer I made: https://vimeo.com/451482728

How did you make this work:
The illustrations for this book was made using a combination of drawings and painted elements. I wanted to create a playful, expressive style that mirrors the action and dynamics of the story. I also wanted the illustrations to have a tactility, to make kids want to touch them. I therefore used multiple layers of painted elements to give association to the richness of colour in tex color etchings.
