Louise Lockhart
Along The Pier Concertina Book

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Along The Pier is the follow up to my first book Up My Street. it’s a long 10 panel concertina book that stretches out to 1.35 metres long to display a row of shops. Celebrating the uniqueness of the British seaside, I was inspired by real shop fronts from around the northern coastlines of the UK and lovingly paid homage to them in this colourful book. Lithographed in 3 pure spot Pantones.

How was the illustration used:
The illustrations are for a concertina book that unfolds out to 1.35 metres long.

How did you make this work:
I used a mixture of paper cuts, collage, pencil line to make each initial composition. I then scanned in these elements and used Photoshop to compile them and make each image, adding more colours and textures. It was then converted into 3 pure Pantones and printed by offset lithography to create the unique bold colour palette.
