Niv Tishbi
Lockdown

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I created the illustration in the first lockdown in my country during the Covid-19 pandemic, expressing my feelings while being isolated at home, longing to reunite with the outdoors, and craving for being able to socialize again. The illustration depicts the tension of the intermediate space between the intimate indoor space and the public domain, wherein both I felt the loss of freedom.

How was the illustration used:
A digital print artwork for sale, personal project.

How did you make this work:
The illustration was created digitally and produced with archival inks as a limited edition of 60 Giclée prints. During the process, I began with framing the window gird which is creating the base of the composition. Then I drew the interior space of the house and blurred it, eliminating most of the details. I revealed a small part of the window's glass with a single brushstroke.
