Chloe Isteed
A (Not So) Still Life

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I have always been inspired by objects, and their role in storytelling. The idea sparked from a reference photo of a Selfridges window display, found during lockdown through the Still Here Still Life drawing challenge on Instagram. I could instantly see characters in the stacked shapes, and used animation to discover their individual personalities, and relationship with each other.

How was the illustration used:
The animation was used to expand the moving image side of my portfolio, particularly in terms of character animation, and was also shared on social media.

How did you make this work:
I began by sketching the characters, and working out their personalities and how they would move through storyboarding. The final animation was animated in After Effects.
