Why did you make this work:
This graphic novel is commissioned by an NGO to tell the story of Salvadoran women who face 30-40 years in prison in prison accused of abortion.

How was the illustration used:
It was used in a graphic novel

How did you make this work:
I have traveled to Salvador twice to interview these women and learn about the harsh consequences that these sentences have on their lives. After the trips and recordings, we have put graphically this five storiesin paper with the hel of the scriptwriter, Elizabeth Casillas.

Biography:
Higinia Garay (Bilbao, 1978) Graduated in Fine Arts and Postgraduate in Design of Publications at the European Institute of Design in Madrid. I have been working as an illustrator and graphic designer since 2002, and in charge of my own studio since 2013. In addition, I combine these activities with teaching in master's degrees and workshops. Among my latest outstanding projects are clients such as the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Astiberri, Cruz Roja, Obra Social “la Caixa”, Tabakalera Donosti, Azkuna Zentroa, Farmamundi, Anesvad, Mundubat and BBK Live among many others.
