Danger Man

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
As part of a larger graphic novel that focuses on hate crime, queerness and graphic medicine. These pages showed a personal story from my childhood. The original pages were altered to suit the format of a newspaper for a competition.

How was the illustration used:
This was entered into the Observer, Jonathon Cape Comica Competition and was longlisted out of all the entries. It has since been shown to graphic novelist, Dr Nicola Streeten, the founder of LDComics and publishers such as La Association.

How did you make this work:
Constructed originally in loose pencil I scanned, inked, and colored the comic pages, creating my own font type kit to give the pages a personal “imperfection”. Using memory as a narrative influence I engage with autoenthnographic processes as a form of storytelling.
