Why did you make this work:
Moleskine asked me to create a unique artwork for the cover of a notebook that would be part of the launch of the Moleskine Studio Collection, a new collection featuring 6 notebooks designed by 6 international artists. Absolute creative freedom was the main rule. The project also included the personalisation of the front endpaper and the back endpaper of the notebook.

How was the illustration used:
The work was used to decorate one of the artist series notebooks of the Moleskine Studio Collection, including cover, endpaper and also a set of stickers.

How did you make this work:
The pieces created for Moleskine Studio Collection are handmade mixed-media artworks. All of them are three-dimensional collages where different materials such as paper, printed paper, threads, fabric, feathers, pieces of plastic and polypropylene give shape to aquatic landscapes and ethereal atmospheres marked by transparencies and blur.

Biography:
Sonia Alins was born in Spain in 1974. After getting her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (University of Salamanca, 1997), she pursued an illustration postgraduate course at the University of Barcelona. Since 1998 she works as a freelance, illustrating books, magazines, advertising and other products. Since 2013, Sonia also develops a career as an artist.
