Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
An exclusive print for the V & A - inspiration drawn from the museum's fashion and costume collections. Vintage engravings are collaged to create intricate scenes in which the characters come to life through humorous anthropomorphism. Original artwork and collaged elements join seamlessly and create images with playfulness and with a welcome element of surprise.

How was the illustration used:
Part of a series of prints commissioned by the V & A

How did you make this work:
Many of the collaged elements are taken from engravings by Gustave Doré and other 19th century graphic sources. The even line of the original artwork blends with the collaged works and makes a new image with a meaning of its own.
