Ruo-Hsin Wu
Where the Crawdads Sing

Commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
A series of illustrations and gifs for the book Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I took inspiration from the author’s beautiful and symbolic depictions of the animals, plants, water, and light in the coastal marshes, depicting the interaction between the marsh girl and the natural world.

How was the illustration used:
These illustrations commissioned by Read with Audery, a London based reading app that brings the readers, listeners and storytellers together.

How did you make this work:
I created the images with pencil and charcoal on paper, attempting to catch the sense of loneliness and tenderness I felt from the story.
