Why did you make this work:
This was my first time working on a Children’s picture book. I was approached by the editor Emily at Flying Eye to do so when they had the text. It resonated with me instantly because of the themes, the certain sadness we find overwhelming as a child that I could relate to. I loved the ability to explore the poetic nature of the text and it felt like it fitted into the nature of my work.

How was the illustration used:
In a published children's book.

How did you make this work:
Each spread from the book was made up of hand rendered components that were then digitally composed. It was important to me that the spreads had these hand rendered textures that felt human but I also wanted to be able to make changes easily as the book was such a learning process and didn't want to feel to much pressure on perfecting each spread all in one go.
