Max Löffler
America and the Virus: ‘A Colossal Failure of Leadership’

Editorial

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I tried to capture the surreal nature of the American present back then in October 2020, along with the idea of neglect, anxiety, and chaos. Surgical gloved hands symbolize attempts to fight the virus: they are trying to hold everything together/keep balance, but they’re being overwhelmed by the complete mismanagement and the virus itself, symbolized by the surrounding, swallowing dark.
