Freddie Denton
Greek Restaurant Dubai

Site Specific

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I was commissioned by interior design agency Twenty Seven Twelve to produce 10 fish illustrations for a new Greek restaurant for a high profile client in Dubai. The illustrations will be used in the branding system, but predominantly as site specific mural illustrations and a large printed floor design. Which will be printed on canvas, gold foiled and covered in epoxy resin.

How was the illustration used:
Hand painted wall murals on the outside and inside of the restaurant, in the printed branding and on a large printed canvas floor, which will have a layer of gold foil.

How did you make this work:
The illustrations were produced by compiling images of each fish, studying their form and producing a unique illustration for each in procreate. Using a variety of 'brushes' to layer tone, line and silkscreen/paint effects to acquire the desired aesthetic. The floor will be printed digitally onto canvas, the gold layer will be 'foiled' over the canvas so it shimmers as people navigate the space.
