Why did you make this work:
As an author, illustrator you have to bend a bit of your original idea to meet the client's desire. With these pieces and works, I keep the full freedom and do it my way.

How was the illustration used:
Decorative, on the wall and dinning central piece porcelain.

How did you make this work:
I hunt for interesting pieces in antiques and bazaars always. The delicacy of the old china is amazing and usually no longer in production, as the demand for porcelain and its use has shifted. So old, unwanted, and also broken pieces are the treasure, given an extra layer of information that updates the piece. The new heritage is being created. Using the classic porcelain decoration techniques.

Biography:
Illustrator Silvie Lubenova aka maestrokatastrof graduated from Prague’s Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, from the ateliers of ceramics and porcelain and illustration. The brand maestrokatastrof was established in 2009 merging both fields. Adding the love and fascination of old or antique porcelain and ceramics, history, comics, mother tongue, and the art of acronyms. Since 2009, custom made pieces for weddings, birthdays, funerals, or just like that! have been created. Solitaires or entire sets or special editions. As an illustrator SL collaborates with photographers, lifestyle magazines, and local and international brands who desire an original approach. ( LAUFEN, BULGARI, Jablonex, Flamant, PROFIMED, ELLE, VOGUE...) The work is a combination of hand drawing, painting, and collage. Always trying to create an interesting context and connect the old with the new. The author lives and works in Prague. In 2019, SL. together with her colleague, jeweler designer Adéla Fejtková, founded the Live Longer brand, platform for porcelain, ceramics, and glass repairs.
