Lucinda Kidney
Batts Hill Gin Label Illustration

Design Product & Packaging

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
During the first COVID-19 lockdown of 2020 I was commissioned to illustrate a gin bottle label for Batts Hill Distillers. Utilising the strong, masculine brand colours my brief was to create a magical illustration with a sundowner feel, capturing the essence of Delano and Bradley's friendship of neighbours, shared stories and fun celebrations into ‘A Taste of Friendship’ to offer their customers.

How was the illustration used:
The primary intended use for the Batts Hill illustration is the label on the gin bottle. The illustration has also been used on marketing collateral such as flyers, banners, stickers, gift cards and has also been used on the Batts Hill website and social media channels.

How did you make this work:
The client provided a list of the botanical ingredients for me to research and I produced a lot of drawings by hand in pen and ink or pencil! I then translated these drawing into digital colour using a combination of Procreate and Abobe Photoshop. I assembled the final design elements and composition in Adobe Photoshop. A separate ‘die’ layer for the copper foil sat on top of the artwork layers.
