Aya Morton
Swimmers

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
This piece was an experiment in texture and pattern using printmaking tools available in my studio. I tried to create a sense of pattern both in the overall composition of the swimmers and in the detail of their bathing suits.

How was the illustration used:
Limited edition of 10 prints.

How did you make this work:
The printmaking process involved two linocut layers, carved into Vyco drafting board covers, (the pink and blue), and a third layer of silkscreen, (the shadow), using stop-out hand-painted directly onto the screen. The inexact quality of the process added to a water like texture.
