Sumangla Bishnoi
UNIGHT

Exploration

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
Moulded by eight-years training of Bharatnatyam - an Indian classical dance, my dreams of pursuing graphic design became a reality. My passion for studying cultures made me transcend into a unique project ‘Unight’, where I unified performative and fine arts to bring unique Indian ethnicity language in the colour palette and the intricacy in the series of illustration.

How was the illustration used:
I love to be called as a multidisciplinary designer and I thought I need to learn illustration design as well for it. 'Unight' is one of my college design projects that I created to add an illustration design piece in my portfolio.

How did you make this work:
India has different classical dances known as Shastriya Nritya. A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. I projected different bhav-bhangimayen (gestures/steps/poses) through vector style technique of graphic design using Adobe Illustrator
