Why did you make this work:
Iedereen Leest, a Belgian organisation who promotes reading, asked me to illustrate their website and campaign for ‘Boekenzoeker’, a platform that helps both children of all ages and backgrounds and their parents/ teachers/ librarians find the books they are looking for. I created a series of spot and header illustrations that could be used both on the website and on theprintspace campaign.

How was the illustration used:
The illustrations are used throughout the website as headers, alongside different themed booklists, when adding books to your basket, or when a page on the site cannot be found. The illustrations are also used on posters and postcards that are distributed to schools and libraries in Belgium to promote the launch of the platform.

How did you make this work:
The main challenge was to create a style that would appeal to both young children, teenagers and adults, while the illustrations had to be applicable to multiple topics. Working with repeating visual elements on a separate background helped to create a recognisable campaign, while allowing the visuals to be easily used in different compositions on different devices and on the printed campaign.

Biography:
Eleni Debo is a Belgian illustrator living in the Italian Alps. Since finishing her Masters degree in Visual Arts in 2015, she makes illustrations for books, prints, editorials and campaigns for a wide variety of international clients, and always welcomes new challenges.
